I’m Katelyn: a wife, mother of five, and former first grade teacher.

A Brief History

Being a teacher was never my plan! After spending my year after high school in Finland, I came home to wrap up my nursing prerequisites and apply for nursing school. Needing a job to supplement my income, I found myself subbing as a teachers aid in an elementary school ELL (English Language Learners) classroom. Something about seeing my “teacher” name written on the board, planning lessons with ZERO teaching experience/interest and failing miserably at classroom management gave me the desire to pursue a teaching degree! Go figure.

I haven’t looked back! I taught five years as a first grade teacher. Love, love, loved first grade. It was a very bittersweet fifth year of teaching as it is also my last. I have five children with hopes to grow our family even more. Full time teaching plus full time momming was getting to be too much! Fortunately, I had the choice to be a stay at home mom and after much hesitation we (my husband and I) decided it is what was best for our growing family.

Between caring for my children and keeping our house functional, I am LOVING this new phase of life! I am creating teaching content and resources for Primary Grades - my passion - and getting to live with one foot in the teaching world and the other in our home life!
