In A Tale of Two Beasts, the story is first told by the girl and one perspective is very clearly written. Then, suddenly the story switches to the “beast” and from his perspective the story is VERY different! One of my favorite stories, Carla’s Sandwich is all about being different. The main character, Carla, is determined to be different and helps teach the other kids about how fun it can be to do things different from others, all through the simple act of bringing interesting sandwiches to school. ANANSI AND THE TALKING MELON
Anansi, a classic character who’s tactics have been retold by Eric Kimmel, is up to his usual tricks. Too lazy to grow his own melons, he uses a thorn to break a hole in one of Elephant’s garden. After eating the insides, Anansi realizes he is too big to get out! He’s able to trick Elephant and in the end escape the melon without notice!
