5 FEBRUARY Read Alouds for First Grade
February is filled with fun holidays! Valentines Day and the 100th Day of school are probably two of the most loved holidays by firsties. What better holiday is there to swap cards and candy or make a fruit loop necklace? A little shorter than other months, February usually flies by as your class settles back into the school routine after Winter Break. It’s a classic story of individuality, using an outrageous plot of Camilla changing into her surroundings simply because she won’t admit that she is unique in loving lima beans. It’s always a surprise when the 100th day of school starts to get close! Crazy that the school year is over halfway through. One of the benefits to reading a Fancy Nancy book is the extra vocabulary the author writes into the story! This story is an absolute gem of a story. Mr. Hatch lives alone and enjoys his solitude when a surprise box of chocolates arrives on his front step. This opens up the door for him to notice the people in his daily life, in wondering if they gifted him the box of chocolates. This sweet story will be loved by your firsties! The Littlest Valentine is a story about Emily Valentine, who was the youngest in her family. In her family’s’ gift shop, she has been waiting and waiting to help with the Valentine season.
